Information Report

WALT inform others about an animal/creature or habitat, through our writing.
Success Criteria:
  1. Create a title.
  2. Write a general introduction.
  3. Use Subheadings -Each new topic is a new paragraph.
  4. Use facts written in your own words.
  5. Write a conclusion.
  6. Use descriptive verbs eg hovers.
  7. Use topic specific nouns eg kakapo, reptile
  8. Include technical words eg nocturnal, monotreme
  9. Write in present tense.
  10. Vary the sentence beginnings.
  11. Use complex sentences eg This long, sticky tongue secretes sticky glycoprotein rich mucus, which insects stick to readily.

Penguins are from the Spheniscidae Family and they live mainly in Antarctica.
There are 17 types of different penguins living in the world and they belong to different genuses.

Now I am going to name the types of penguins and their genuses.
The penguins that belong to the Aptenodytes are, Emperor, King.
The penguins that belong to the Eudyptes are, Royal, Rockhopper, Snares, Macaroni, Fiordland, Erect-Crested.
The little penguin belongs to the Eudyptula genus.
The Yellow-Eyed Penguin  belongs to the Megadyptes genus.
The Penguins that belong to the Pygoscelis are, Addelie, The Chinstrap and the Gentoo.
And finally the Penguins that belong to the Spheniscus are, African, Galapagos, Humboldt and the Magellanic.

It takes about 3 to 8 years for the average penguin to reach sexual maturity. Once the penguins have reached sexual maturity thus starts the breeding cycle and pattern.
The Penguin has a variety of land and sea predators. The sea predators are, Sea Leopard, Sea Lions, Orcas, Australian Sea Eagle and the Suka. The land predators are, Ferrets, Cats, Snakes, Lizards, Foxes and Rats.
Penguins are a food source for the animals I just listed. A Penguin's stomach blend in with the snow because their stomach’s are white and their back’s are black making it difficult for flying predators to see the penguin.
That was me explaining some intresting facts about penguins.
